Honoring Todd's Legacy

In 2017, in Wisconsin, Todd discovered a hidden gem—a vintage 1951 Pontiac that had been waiting for someone to appreciate its beauty. He saw something in that car that most would overlook, and with his passion for classic vehicles, he knew he had found a piece of history worth saving. After bringing the car across Lake Michigan, Todd poured love and care into it, bringing it back to its stock glory. Todd enjoyed going for cruises and shows in his pristine Pontiac including one trip to the Trufant Jubilee.

However, life had other plans, and five years ago, Todd passed away unexpectedly. His daughter Rachel, in honoring her father’s memory, made a decision that would continue the car’s journey—a decision that would forever connect Todd's legacy to the lives of others. She decided it was time for the Pontiac to find a new owner, someone who would cherish it just as much as Todd had. That’s where I came in.

I first connected with Rachel and her husband Dustin through Marketplace, drawn in by the elegance of the Pontiac and captivated by its story. What started as a simple purchase turned into a much deeper connection. Over the years, I’ve kept in touch with Rachel as my family’s journey with the Pontiac unfolded. My sons learned to drive a stick shift in that car, took it to prom, and more recently, we had the honor of using it to chauffeur newlyweds on one of the most important days of their lives.

Every time we take the car out, it’s a reminder of the legacy Todd left behind—both in bringing the car to Michigan and in the people who now carry it forward. I’m thankful that Todd found the Pontiac, and that Rachel trusted me to continue the story of this beautiful vehicle. The Pontiac has become much more than just a car—it’s a symbol of connection, family, and the unexpected ways life weaves its stories together.

As I look back on this incredible journey, I’m reminded of how something as simple as a car can leave an indelible mark on our hearts. Todd’s passion for vintage cars, his love for his family, and his unexpected gift of this Pontiac have touched my life in ways I could never have imagined. And in turn, I will continue to honor his memory with each mile we drive and share it with others.
